Layin' Down on the Job

Here's my Jake, doing his usual...What a life he has...While I do all of the work. This is my basement office, which I dislike so... The lack of natural light, the dunginess, the LITTERBOXES!!! Anyway, my daughter is moving out next weekend into her new condo, so GUESS WHAT????I will now have a beautiful, newly carpeted, SUNNY office to do all of my work, plus I'm making part of it into a sewing room. I will now be able to create and work while in a nice, light-filled room.

New Loves

This little darlin' is what's been keeping me away from blogging. Meet our new granddaughter, Olivia, who is now 8 months old. Oh, and how could I forget, meet my hubbie of 25 yrs... Another addition is our rescued Border Collie, Rennie. When someone tells you Borders are active, believe them... Our lives are full right now, and we are enjoying every minute of it. On a sadder note, my dad passed away in mid-March. It's been very difficult for all of us and I know he's watching over us... and having a blast, where ever his heaven is....

Long time coming....

I can't believe I haven't written in almost 9 months... alot of family things have transpired since last November. Just a quick post with a few pics of my garden this summer, and I promise I'll be back soon to explain and fill in the missing pieces....

Closed 'Til Spring

Winter's icy hands are just about upon us...and my cherished backyard cafe will be put to sleep. I will miss our mornings out on the patio drinking coffee while reading the paper, watching the birds, cats, squirrels and chipmunks scatter about. Weekend plans to stay home and garden or work on another project, or take a drive to the beach will have to wait until warmer weather.
After-dinner coffee or drinks were my favorite time of day... a cup of coffee and a good book, with the birds singing their good-nights was all it took to make our day. I'll now sit inside, cozy and warm, wrapped up in a favorite throw on my cushy loveseat, reading my seed catalogs, books, dreaming of next year's spring... and wondering what surprises she'll bring.

Pumpkinhead

Feeling like a pumpkinhead these days.... Dad's been in and out of the hospital for over a year, has had 4 heart procedures in the last month, and has basically run out of options... My daughter's getting married next week... so there's alot on my plate, alot to think about, hence, the pumpkinhead feeling. Like I could explode.
Why do all the women, mothers, wives have to bear all the worry? and stress??? and eventually handle every problem that comes down the pike? I need a break after 27 years of motherhood and marriage.... or I'm going to break.

My Garden

This is our Spring 2008 backyard garden. The wisteria was a knockout, and bloomed for almost a month. Unfortunately, she became so prolific we had to cut her waaaayyy back twice, so I doubt we'll have blooms for next year. This is what happens when you plant wisteria close to the house; she eventually wants to take over, envelop you, your house, your patio.... but she smells so good....
One of my clematis and an azalea below...

Kitty Cat City

my favorite felines... These beauts rule the house, and provide daily entertainment as only felines can do....Pepper is the Maine Coon mix who is 11yrs. now...and is king. Penny and Jake are brother and sister who are 6 yrs. old. Penny is teeny tiny, must have been the runt of the litter, and still acts like a kitten.

Learning to crochet

New to blogging, new to crocheting. I just started my first project, a baby blanket, for my daughter who is due in December. Trying to keep this a surprise, although she knows I'm going to crochet classes. I stumbled across a free crochet class at our local library, taught by a veteran crocheter who is patient and just an awesome teacher! She suggested I start with something simple, like a double chain stitch, using three colors and finishing with a nice border.
